Choose Nishohi, Choose Sustainability: Our Third Year of Eco-Excellence

Nishohi is proud to share some good news! For three straight years, we've been more than kind to our planet. We are more than carbon neutral, we are carbon negative! 

We are an online store, and we send packages everywhere, every day. We understand this is not the best for our Earth. So, we make extra efforts to reduce the harm our work could cause.

So, how do we do this? First, we look at our activities, like sending packages and office work, to see how they affect the planet. This year, it was around 100 tCO2. However, finding out the exact amount is very difficult and very costly. So, instead of giving a lot of money to a third-party company to find out precisely how many tons we need to offset, we decided to do something even better – we offset twice as much as our estimated carbon footprint, which means 200 tCO2!

We've chosen a wonderful project to help us do this. It’s a project approved by a trusted group called the Gold Standard. This project helps people in Cambodia get access to clean and safe water. Because of not having clean water, many people, especially children, get sick and lose their lives in Cambodia. A helping group, Hydrologic, is changing this by giving nearly two million people in Cambodia cleaner water.

With Hydrologic’s help, families get special tools to make their water clean. This does a lot of good things! Families have safe water to drink, women and children save time, and there is less need to cut down trees for boiling water. So, families have clear drinkable water, homes have cleaner air, less CO2 is created, and forests are saved too.

Joining this project shows Nishohi’s strong promise to do good for our planet. We always aim to be a business that cares - for our customers, our team, and our Earth. Together, let’s create a future where our shopping helps make the world a happier, healthier place!

What else do we do?

We try to be eco-conscious at the workplace whenever possible. Here are a few examples of the small things we do to reduce carbon emissions:

• We reuse our cardboard boxes since most products arrive in boxes that are in perfect condition.
• We use recycled plastic wrapping, tape, bags, and craft paper whenever available. For example, you might see your products protected in a blueish bubble sheet. That is made of recycled plastic.
• All DHL, FedEx, and UPS plastic pouches are made of recycled plastics too.
• We only print on recycled paper and use recycled ink cartridges in our printers.
