The story of YASAKA Table Tennis

The creator of innovative table tennis equipment since 1947...

Yasaka's origin story is like any other business's beginnings. It all started with the passion for table tennis shared by Mr. Sakamoto and Mr. Hirosi Yaoita. Combining both their names YAoita and SAKAmoto gave the brand its name.

Their vision to provide the world with quality table tennis equipment saw the launch of Yasaka in 1947. The company grew to become the preferred supplier for top Japanese table tennis players in just a few years. A decade of innovation and experimenting later, Yasaka developed the perfect blend of natural and synthetic rubber. Yasaka's new sponge, when combined with the MARK V, gave table tennis players a range of offensive abilities. These included speed, spin, looping, quick counters, and hitting.

Yasaka made a name for itself with the success of its MARK V rubbers in the 1970s. It all began when Hans Alsér, a Swedish player, won the 1970 European Championships using MARK V rubbers. The brand gained greater recognition when Stellan Bengtsson, aged 18, won Sweden's first-ever singles gold at the 1971 World Championships. He used MARK V rubbers. He continued to use them during the 1972 European Championship and won the singles title. In 1973, Stellan and Kjell Johansson won the World Table Tennis Championship, both using MARK V rubbers.
It's no surprise that the MARK V earned the nickname "Swedish champion rubber."

Before the turn of the century, Yasaka ventured into blade production. Yasaka collaborated with Swedish players, coaches, and innovators to produce Yasaka EXTRA, a soft blade with improved control and spin.

Committed to providing the world with top-quality table tennis equipment, Yasaka introduced a 17-layer blade called DYNAMIX. It offered excellent blocking capabilities, great control, high thorough angle - all perfect for attacking players.
